It is with the
launch of the iPhone 4S that Apple launched its voice assistant with great fanfare
Siri.
First available in the form of an iPhone application like the others,
the company behind Siri even had plans to subsequently land on
Android then on BlackBerry. This project was obviously canceled when
the Cupertino company has decided to acquire Siri.
However, it seems thatSiri narrowly missed being redeemed
by the US operator Verizon:
Indeed, before Apple decides to get its hands on the assistant,
Verizon had started discussionswith the aim of carrying
Siri on its range of Android Smartphones. Proof that the negotiations were
gone very far, advertisements extolling the merits of Siri were
already ready, but therefore never saw the light of day.
Passed in front of Verizon,Apple chose to buy Siri in
2010. The assistant was ultimately only available on the App Store
two short months. We know the rest of the story…
