The reason why you shouldn't buy a Mac now

  • Apple expected to unveil new Macs at WWDC
  • The star of the event would be a fifteen-inch MacBook Air
  • With this, a MacBook Pro and an iMac may also be in the cards

In all likelihood, Apple is expected to introduce new Macs at theWorldwide Developer Conferenceof June. Devices which would then be available only a few weeks later, so that it is better not to treat yourself to the models which are about to be renewed today. Of course the exact list is not yet official, but it will undoubtedly be a fifteen-inch MacBook Air and a thirteen-inch MacBook Pro with M3 chip.

Mark Gurman, at the origin of this information, also assures that the keynote of next month's event will be long. Very long, even. And for good reason: it could exceed two hours, “easily” according to the journalist. This is more than all the other launches of its kind at Apple, which has organized WWDC since 1990. It took place in San Jose until theSteve Jobs Theaterdoes not take over from Apple Park.

What's new for the new MacBook Air?

The MacBook Air that Apple is preparing on the sly could therefore feature a large screen offifteen inches, a first for the range which has only had eleven, thirteen and fourteen inch slabs since its beginnings. Some also assumed that theM3 chipwould arrive on this model, but nothing is less certain: the component is perhaps late.

Unsurprisingly, the new MacBook Air should also be equipped with a new version of its operating system.macOS 14could in particular give pride of place to sideloading, the name given to the operation which consists of downloading platforms without going through the App Store. With this, the MagSafe charger should still be there, while USB-C ports will allow you to connect third-party accessories.

iMac M3 and Mac Pro: uncertainty

During WWDC, we could also discover the new version of the iMac and its multicolored designarrived in 2021. The all-in-one would then be powered either by an M2 chip if its successor is indeed late, or by the latter.

With this, it is obviously theMac Prowhich is the longest awaited: the product should have been released more than six months ago. This is the last computer to not yet have received its proprietary chips, but again rumors suggest that serious delays are to be expected. The release date could therefore be pushed back to September.
