Super Mario Run survey results: your opinion on the game and its price!

Recently, we launched a survey following the
game release
Super Mario Run
on iOS, in order to try to doa first
measure of its success with the public
. Because it is true that the game has
particularly successful in raising the sauce following a presentation on
scene during the Apple keynote, but also following the announcements of
prix(9.99 euros) and technical details, such as
connexion internet indispensable. Fortunately, the game allows
a free test before purchase, hence the interest in understanding the public's feedback
concerningthe quality of the game, and above allthe transition to
procurement
:

This was precisely the subject of the latest survey about Nintendo's game. There
question was: "what is your opinion on Super Mario Run
?
" Seven answers were proposed, to choose between: "Purchased and
super happy” – “Bought, happy” – “Bought, disappointed” – “Tested, not yet decided
to buy", "Tested, I would have bought, but too expensive" – "Tested, but not bought,
because not conquered” – “Not tested, not interested”.

The numbers

And aftermore than 2,100 votes, we took stock and
attempted to clarify the results in order to identify certain trends. Here is
the numbers, firstly:

You are near23% to have paid the 10 eurosallowing
to unlock the full content beyond the first 3 levels. Among these 23
%, or around 490 voters, the vast majority are happy to have
cracked! In detail, half are happy with their purchases, a third are
"super-content" andonly 13% are disappointed.

You are on the other hand71% to have tested the game without going any further
and have purchased the full version
. Around 1,500 voters turned out
therefore confined to the free part of the game. A little more than a third of these 1,500
responses correspond to players who were not seduced, another third
finds the game too expensive while a final third takes the time to
reflection.

A misunderstood game?

We therefore have a majority (plus third-party rates) of voters who have tried the
game without having gone as far as payment. Your comments allowed us to see
a little clearer regardingthis massive refusal to purchase. As
As might have been expected, some reasons are more often cited than
others.

Indeed, one of the main criticisms isthe report
price/content
offered by Nintendo in its Mario game. For many,
the in-app purchase is too expensive compared to the content offered (more than one
twenty levels without counting the challenges). This may imply that if the
game had been richer in possibilities, some players would have
certainly been more inclined to pay these 10 euros. The question that can be
ask concerns theperceived value versus real value. Ces
did players go through the levels in one go, without coming back and trying
to get the pink stars, then the black ones? A challenge that makes
much longer and more engaging game for those who appreciate this type of challenge!

The other dominant criticismconcerns the game itself. The
kind of automatic runner from left to right is, for many of you,
"seen and reviewed" with many games already present on the App Store in the
same style. The expectation seems to be quite different, for a Nintendo game, even on
mobile, than a "simple" single-control platform game.

Some also criticize the technical aspect of the game, with delay times
loading too long and a missing landscape mode, but these are returns
less frequent.

On the other hand, we notethe absence of real animositytowards
the essential internet connection, which does not seem to have bothered the players.
On the other hand, regrets are expressed regarding family sharing
on multiple devices.
A tip
however exists regarding this last point, it does not resolve
not all cases however.

We realize that for this Super Mario Run, according to you,it's at
both the content of the game, too short compared to the price, and the style, too
simple
which are the cause of not making the purchase.

However, we will notice a few people in the comments, very happy
and satisfied with their purchase. The latter even defend the game by citing a
high replayabilitywith different room colors
fetch several times on the same level.

In short, this game seems to be aimed at an informed audience, fans of the universe
Mario, but also understanding of the game system offered by Super Mario
Run. Without this, few uninitiated people will be able to let themselves be seduced
enough to get through the free levels and in-app purchase of
10 euros.

additional features for Super Mario Run, a traditional model in a mobile world that
has changed
.

The game may need a little more time than the initial rush creates
by the pre-release buzz, in order to be understood and understood by the
players. See you in a while to take stock.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond to the survey and
to add your details in comments.
