Apple has published its financial results for the third calendar quarter of 2019, equivalent to the fourth quarter of the fiscal year. To put it simply, these are the results for the months of July, August and September.
Revenue up, profit down?
The Cupertino company recorded $64 billion in turnover for the quarter, which is better than the $62.9 billion earned last year.
On the other hand, with regard to the profits generated, Apple shows a small decline in form, going from 14.1 billion dollars in the same quarter of last year, to 13.7 billion dollars this year.

The gross margin also fell slightly, from 38.3% to 38% year over year.
Apple sold $260.2 billion worth of products in the fiscal year, compared to $265.5 billion last year. Net revenues increased from $59.5 billion to $55.3 billion this year.
The “Services” category is gaining momentum
The Services category, including Apple Music, Apple Pay, App Store, but now also Apple Card and Apple Arcade, and soon Apple TV+, posted a new turnover record. It reached revenues of $12.5 billion in the quarter. Here is the revenue generated by other product categories:
- $33.36 billion for the iPhone
- $6.99 billion for the Mac
- 6.52 billion for the Apple Watch, Connected Home and Accessories category
- 4.66 billion for the iPad

As indicated by our colleagues at 9to5Mac, these results cannot yet properly take into account the sales figures of the iPhone 11. The first fiscal quarter, from October to December 2019, will be better able to measure the success of the latest smartphone models released by Apple.
Precisely, here are the forecasts established by the Californian firm for the next quarter, very important, because it includes the end-of-year holidays, always very lucrative for manufacturers of tech products: a turnover of between 85.5 billion and 89.5 billion dollars, and a gross margin of between 37.5 and 38.5%.
