The appointment is set forJanuary 17: This is the date on which the next Samsung Unpacked event is organized. This will be, like its predecessors and like Apple's keynotes, broadcast live on YouTube. We should, for the occasion, discover no less than three new models of high-end smartphones:
- the Samsung Galaxy S24
- the Samsung Galaxy S24+
- le Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
Among the expected changes, it is assumed in particular that the manufacturer will present new featurespowered by artificial intelligence. These remain to be defined, but could notably give pride of place to content generation models. The value proposition could then echo that of Bard, an alternative toChatGPTsigned by Google and which has recently benefited from Gemini's improvements for image recognition.
For now, Samsung has officially confirmed few details. However, the full technical sheet should be published next week. We also do not know the date of pre-orders at the moment, but the first Galaxy S24 could arrive at customers as soon asJanuary 24– according to our own estimates. This date could also coincide with the deployment of devices in stores, if this does not occur two or three days earlier.
Potential datasheet
In all likelihood, Samsung's new Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra will be powered by the chipSnapdragon 8 Gen 3from Qualcomm. No proprietary hardware, therefore, as for the Galaxy S23, Samsung Galaxy S23+ and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. As a result, we should therefore expect better autonomy from the three flagships, because the latest generation processor consumes less energy than that on previous mobiles. The associated volume of RAM remains uncertain, but remember that the latter still reaches up to twelve gigabytes with the S23 Ultra.
As far as photo capabilities are concerned, a 3x telephoto lens would be included, accompanied by a wide-angle sensor offifty megapixelsand a twelve megapixel ultra wide angle. With a similar definition for the front camera, dedicated to selfies. For comparison, we assume that future premium iPhones could upgrade to forty-eight megapixels also for the 5x zoom lens. But here too, Apple only confirms this kind of data during its conferences.
In terms of fast charging, the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra should be powered via their traditional USB-C port, unsurprisingly.
What are the differences with the iPhone 15?
Of course, the new Samsungs will be equipped with the operating systemAndroid– with aOne UI overlaythe most recent editions of which have already proven themselves.
Unlike iOS, which equips iPhones, Android has the advantage of being more “open” to third-party publishers. These can in particular offer apps without users having to go through the Google Play Store to install them. On iPhone, the equivalent is impossible: only the App Store allows you to download platforms in complete security. Jailbreaking is a known alternative, but unrecommended and totally discouraged by Apple. In this way, however, the Cupertino giant ensures that it maintains its leading position in cybersecurity. Indeed, iOS has long been considered to harbor far fewer viruses than Android. This is also confirmed by the latest studies in this area.
Moreover, it is also the design which will be very different between iPhone 15 and Galaxy S24. According to our colleagues fromPresse-citron.netwho have already shared first images of future Samsungs, the photo sensors are notably aligned on the back. But no titanium chassis is apparently planned, unlike the one fitted to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
- The release date of Samsung's new Galaxy S24s has been confirmed
- There will be three models in total: the Samsung Galaxy S24, the Samsung Galaxy S24+ and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
- These cell phones run Android, versus iOS for Apple's iPhone 15
