Earthquake in Taiwan: damage and impacted processor production

On February 6, Taiwan suffered a
earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale. Several hundred
injured and dozens dead.We deplore all the unfortunate
victims
of this catastrophe.

A lot of damage therefore, on the human side, and on the material side. In fact, the factory
TSMCprocessor supplier for Apple among others, was
affected and will see its production in the coming monthsreduced to
consequence
:

The Taiwanese manufacturer is particularly known for being one of the
suppliers, with Samsung, of Apple A9 chips, which notably equip the iPhone
6s. The differentiation of the two chips, Samsung or TSMC, had also created
a
little controversy
with users reportingautonomy
lesser
for iPhones with Samsung chip.

At the same time, TSMC should bethe sole chip supplier
A10
for Apple's next machines, the Apple firm would have
in fact decided tono longer purchase from Samsungin
processor.

In order to be completely operational, TSMC will therefore have to quickly deliver
its damaged machines on foot, in order to avoid or at least
limit the repercussionsof the desolate catastrophe
natural on production.
