iPhone 6s: Samsung or TSMC processor, the differences measured

The
last week,we
were talking about the fact that Apple adopted two different A9 chips
pour
equip the iPhone 6s, one from Samsung, 10% smaller than the other
chip from the manufacturer TMSC.We
showed you yesterday how to determine which chip your iPhone 6s has
possessed
.

Normally, one would expect that the differences between the two
are minimal, but in tests it seems that it is not
not quite the case:

The main difference is battery life,
which is better with TSMC A9 chip
compared to that provided
by Samsung. We also learn that for the same task performed, the
TSMC chip operates at a lower temperature
than the Samsung chip.

Two YouTubers, Austin Evans and Jonathan Morrison, carried out a test
video by performing the same tasks simultaneously on both iPhone 6s
(Samsung and TSMC). They came to the same conclusion:the
TSMC chip consumes less energy than that of the giant
Korean
.

For example, James Morrison performed the following test using a battery
100% on both devices: he filmed 10 minutes of video in 4K then
he exported this video to iMovie. Finally he launched benchmark tests.
At the end of all these tasks, the iPhone 6s with the TSMC chip showed 62%
remaining battery, while the battery of the model with the Samsung chip in
was at 55%.

Austin performed a different test with Geekbench 3: he used the
same brightness on both screens and he waited to see which model would go
last the longest before reaching the 50% battery mark. He
results that the TSMC model held50 minutes longer than the model
Samsung
.

Another test carried out (1 hour of streaming video) by Austin shows a
minimal difference of 1% in battery between the two iPhones
different.

It therefore seems thatthe difference is more or less great in
depending on the tasks we perform on the iPhone 6s
.

In conclusion, an occasional user who does not fully use the
The iPhone's processor capabilities should not be affected.

On the other hand, the informed user who uses his iPhone to carry out
heavy tasks such as video processing or 3D video games, could
prefer to have the TMSC model in your iPhone 6s.

Unfortunately there is no way of knowingin advanceand
the model you buy has a TSMC or Samsung chip.
