Grain to grind forEuropean competition authorities. This is how we could describe Apple's latest decision concerning Shadow, a clear competitor to Stadia or Steam - but especially to Arcade - whose popularity has continued to rise in recent months. In fact, the Cupertino company simply removed the Parisian company's iOS client from its App Store.
This is not the first time: a similar incident had already occurred last March, forultimately resulting in a return of the platform to iPhones in May. But today, the reasons for the discord remain unknown, which should not fail to provoke a reaction from the most active players on social networks. Thanks to their subscription, they benefit from a real PC streaming from their mobile for a minimum of 12.99 euros per month.
What are the factors for such a rejection?
The motivations behind this type of sanction are often linked to the conditions of use of developer accounts. Thus, to publish an application on the App Store, it is necessary to respect a number of increasingly strict rules. Many criticize them because they drag down the initiatives of small publishers, in favor of an increasingly obvious hegemony of the Apple brand.
Apple would thus favor its own alternatives. With this in mind, Fortnite has suffered a similar fate to Shadow, as third-party app stores and in-app purchases are no longer allowed on iOS. A simple way for Apple to control payments and - according to its communicators - to check the security of each software then subject to validation.

Other operating systems too
Note also that Shadow has also disappeared from tvOS and iPadOS, two other destinations of choice for gamers. With now improved support for controllers and mice, Apple's tablet is increasingly shaping up to be an equivalent solution to computer games. As for the TV box, simply plug it into a large screen to transform it into a real living room console.
Discussions have since been initiated between the two parties, although a favorable outcome has not yet been found. Fortunately for members registered before the ban, the cloud gaming platform remains available if they do not uninstall it. But no more updates possible, therefore.
