If we go back twenty years or so, the way content was consumed and distributed back then was completely different. Radio, TV and magazines were there to inform and entertain us, but the content was not as diverse and varied as it is today. And for good reason, the creation of content and especially access to an audience was only reserved for a handful of people meeting certain criteria.
But today, anyone can start their own show inexpensively, an internet connection and time are enough. Which is already a revolution in itself. But new technologies continue to advance, and even more so thanks to artificial intelligence. The latter in fact offers more and more ways to distribute its content, and more and more easily.
This is particularly the case with Spotify, which is currently exploring a new way to expand an audience. The streaming platform launched aproject aimed at allowing podcasters to translate their shows into other languages.
A much superior English offer
In 2015, the streaming giant with 500 million users around the world launched podcasts in the United States. Then a year later, they quietly arrived on the old continent. So far so good, listeners were seduced by this addition even if the podcast section of Spotifywas slow to become known to the general public.
However, Spotfiy's initiative to translate content into different languages does not come out of nowhere. In question? The number of English podcasts is much higher than in other languages. In fact, the Spanish, German or French catalogs are much less extensive. And the fact of being able to offer the best podcasts in several languages seems to have appealed to the platform.
AI reproduces the voice of the presenters
The functionality isalready availableand some American podcasts have already been translated. And the most surprising thing about all of this is that the podcaster's tone of voice is reproduced so as not to completely distort the content. To achieve this, Spotify called on OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT. For the moment the French translation is still not available, but it won't be long!
