You may remember a study showing thatmachines
under iOS account for 60% of mobile trafficthat we had detailed everything
recentlyin this post.
A new study coming to us from
netmarketshare, shows once again that if Apple is very competitive
in terms of market share for smartphones, we must recognize
that in terms of mobile Internet usage, Safari Mobile largely dominates the
market and even continues to progress:
Indeed, Safari Mobile, the default iOS browser, sees its share of use
pass from55.6% in September to 62.2% in October.
If we look over a period of 1 year, Safari mobile went from
44.3% in October 2010has62.2% in October 2011
or almostmore than 18% in 1 year.
If Android also progresses from 9 to 18%, we can imagine that this
progress was made more to the detriment of Opera Mini which went from 33% to 13%
on that of Apple.
As for Symbian (Nokia) and RIM (BlackBerry), their use is almost
anecdotal with 2.55% and 2% respectively.
For information, you should know that theMobile web represents
now 5.5% of total web connections.
These figures reveal that while Android has now taken the lead on the
very competitive smartphone market, it is interesting to see that
usage, in this case the Mobile Web, Apple continues to progress and displays
insolent health.
When we see thesuccess
of the iPad 2 which dominates the tablet market head and shoulderset
thesales recordof theiPhone 4Sduring his first 3 days of
marketing, it appears that Apple, at least in this specific area,
has nothing to worry about at the moment and that its operating system
iOS 5and the quality of its multitouch screens
satisfy users wanting to connect to the mobile Web.
