Steve Jobs, the genius misunderstood by his teams

Onpaid tribute a few days agoto one of the most innovative entrepreneurs of recent decades, on the occasion of his birthday, which was October 5. We are of course talking about the great Steve Jobs. And like all people with flashes of genius, it can sometimes happen that we don't completely understand what they mean. The co-founder of Apple does not seem to be an exception to the rule, as confirmedan anecdote reported by Clément Mok.

Clément Mok is a renowned entrepreneur and designer who has just been awarded the digital design prize. His consecration took place recently during the National Design Awards 2023 ceremony. And it was for this occasion that the latter told an anecdote about Steve Jobs.

A Macintosh «like the Beatles» ?

The winner has in the pastworked with Apple. And when asked which design he preferred, he said Macintosh. And this, despite the large number of projects on which he worked.

When Steve Jobs told his Macintosh design teams what he wanted, they didn't immediately understand it. This is what he told them: “What I want is like the Beatles. He's the Beatle of the beginning, not the Beatle of the end". To which his teams replied “Steve, we don't understand what that means". If to designate them, this request was vague, for the founder, it was not clearer. This simply meant that he wanted a device that “had verve, energy and soul”, in short, an exciting product.

Tim Cook pursues his mentor's dreams

Despite the exception of the pioneer Steve Jobs, Apple has not lost its soul and continues on the same path. We can imagine that this is partly due to the fact that the management of the firm has been taken over by the right person: Tim Cook. The latter has not distorted what is the very essence of Apple. He had also forged strong ties with Steve Jobs, he said he learned a lot from him, and heconsidered him his mentor.
