Telegram updates with a special new feature for iOS

After the arrival ofnew privacy options this summer, Telegram welcomes more changes to its mobile apps this week. The main improvement is the arrival of “topics“, which is reminiscent of that of “Communities” in WhatsApp. The principle is in fact quite similar: it is in fact a question of creating sub-channels in the groups, so as to separate the discussions to better organize them.Slack ou Microsoft Teamsoffer a similar operation.

Be careful, however, because Telegram specifies that for the moment only groups with more than two hundred members are eligible fortopics. Soon, specifies the developer, this new feature will however be extended to smaller groups. If you are not yet eligible, you can nowtry the topics in a dedicated and public group accessible right here. Telegram specifies that the notification settings are adjustable according to eachsubject, going beyond those of the groups to which they belong.

NFTs for identifiers

Second new feature: the arrival of collectible usernames, which allows you to choose several thanks to theblockchain TON. These can be bought or sold via a dedicated site, where we already find identifiers estimated at more than half a million euros. One specificity concerns these new user names: the possibility of having less than five characters, for example@eyesor@ipad.

With multiple usernames, you can deactivate the ones you want to no longer appear in Telegram search results. A good way todisappear quicklyif necessary, the decision can be canceled at any time from the app.

Accessibility

Very practical, Telegram now also offerstranscribe video messages to text. This has already been possible with audio content for a few weeks, but only for Premium subscribers. This same limitation is still there for videos. As a reminder, subscribing to Telegram means paying 5.49 euros per month with the added bonus of sending larger files, faster downloads as well as unique animated stickers to illustrate your discussions.
