30-pin adapter test – Lightning iPhone and iPad: compatible accessories… or not

YOU
have fallen for the latest iPhone, iPod touch or iPad but like many,
you had accessories compatible with the 30 pin port of generations
compatible. Fortunately, there are solutions offered by Apple,
two adapters, one compact, the other with a cable. But the problem is
prix !

In fact, they are sold
at the price of 29 euros for the compact here
et
39 euros here for the longest
.

So it’s better to know what they are compatible with… or not. SO
we put them to the test with the accessories we were able to find:
cardio sensors, weather, HDMI adapter or even battery case and cable
cigarette lighter.

Onward for compatibility… or not with the adapter sold by
Apple (the official one, not any copies).

The adapter is relatively compact in terms of thickness and width,
on the other hand, the height will be felt once connected with another
accessory as you will see in the following photos.

Here are the different tests carried out and the compatibility of each

Apple standard 30 pin power cable

This is the minimum, the adapter is made for this:
compatible!

Cigarette lighter cable

Logically it should work, tested with a cigarette lighter adapter
Philips,compatible!

Battery case

It's not practical at all but it can help if you want.
reuse your iPhone 4/4S case while waiting for real cases
Lightning connection compatible batteries are available. Here tested with the
PhoneSuit Elite :compatible!

Station iHealth

We had talked about it
in this article, compatible with the iHealth station
,
compatible!

Runalyzer cardio sensor

This is a sensor compatible with classic cardio belts, which
we hadtested
and recommended in this article
and heis sold
To be
. Tested, approved, it iscompatiblewith
the adapter!

Still, the length of the whole thing can make you fear the worst in the race.

Masqott weather sensor

This sensor allows you to retrieve temperature, pressure, altitude and
to use this information via applications. We
We tested it here
. No problem using the Masqott sensor
weather report,compatible!

Masqott cardio and altitude sensor

This sensor is compatible with cardio belts and several
running applications and has the particularity of recovering the altitude of
more reliably than GPS via a pressure sensor.
It is sold here for example
and turned out
compatible!

Apple HDMI Adapter

This cable is very practical for sending content from the iPhone / iPad to
a TV or video projector. But unfortunately, theadapter
Lightning is not compatible
with, this requires repurchasing a

adapter dedicated to video and sold here at the price of 49 euros
(also exists

in VGA at the same price
astronomical)

Apple SD card adapter for iPad

This adapter allows you to transfer photos from a digital camera
stored on SD card to iPad memory. Both adapters do
perfectly good housekeeping and it works:
compatible!

In the end, this adapter, which is still too expensive, still allows you to
enjoy using most of the accessories available
for the old iPhone dock socket, we nevertheless regret the size of
the whole which makes use much less simple than the version
original of the accessory, particularly for outdoor accessories and
sports.

These tests do not cover all accessories but they give a good
idea of the type of sensor that may be compatible. On the other hand, for stations
music, which are normally also compatible, there is a point to
to check is the increase in the height of the whole and the presence or
not sufficient support so that there is no tension on the
different takes.

We need you!

Andyou also checked the compatibility of the adapter with
other iPhone accessories
, so don't hesitate to share
l’informationin the comments.
