This is a new twist in a case that has attracted attention for several months. This Sunday, an American judge decided to keep TikTok on the App Store and the Play Store, effectively suspending the application by decree from the Trump government. The latter notably provided for the withdrawal of the Chinese social network from application stores as of this Monday.
American justice therefore provisionally rules in favor of TikTok but nevertheless refuses to suspend the total ban on the platform which therefore still remains possible on November 12.
A risk to US national security
In detail, the application's lawyers argued that preventing American users from downloading TikTok would be a blow to American citizens in the middle of an election period and would prevent them from expressing their opinions. In addition, according to them, this would pose a real problem during a pandemic where many people are in a situation of isolation and use it to communicate with the outside world.
