End of the Lightning socket on AirPods and Magic Mouse soon

On iPhone, the question of abandoning the Lightning port has been rife for several years now. Indeed, not only does the European Commission wish to put an end to this connection out of concern to fight againstwastebut users are also increasingly inclined to turn to wireless charging.

Apple has already moved to the universal standard on many of its products, such as computers withles MacBook Proand MacBook Airs. Same for thetablets, where only the ninth generation iPad does not yet have this advantage among all those still published. Logically, we therefore expect that other articles will also be affected…

The case for Mac accessories

Among them, Mac peripherals obviously. Starting with theMagic Keyboard, which is perhaps the most used of them. For the moment, even the versions released with the iMac M1 and dark in color are still equipped with Lightning sockets, which are connected with the proprietary cable provided in the box. For the Apple mouse (Magic Mouse) at 109 euros, it's the same thing. What's more, it turns out that it cannot be recharged and used at the same time because the power plug is installed on the side of the laser...

According to a new rumor shared by Ming-ChiKuo, these problems could however soon be history because Apple would like to switch to USB-C for these accessories, but also for its touchpad, theMagic Trackpad(sold for 155 euros in the official store).

USB-C on AirPods

Another possibility: the case of AirPods, which could also switch to the universal plug according to Kuo. A rather surprising suggestion given that the manufacturer is more used to highlighting wireless charging for this type of product from now on. Moreover, the third generation of headphones no longer offers a version without this advantage, while this was still the case with the previous one a short time ago.

Finally, let us recall that theAirPods Pro 2are perhaps also on their way tothe upcoming WWDC: they could then be the first affected by the arrival of USB-C.
