Apple joins the Qi wireless charging consortium

Ofmany recent rumors about the iPhone 8on suggest a
upcoming adoption of wireless charging for the next iPhones which would be
unveiled at the start of this year.

And while many users wonder whether the
Cupertino company would adopt long-distance wireless charging or else
recharging by induction,the Cupertino company officially comes
to join the Wireless Power Consortium
.

The name of the Cupertino company appeared this week on the website of the
Wireless Power Consortium, which brings together 213 members.

Apple already usesa QI type wireless charger for the Apple
Watch
, however this is a modified version to not work
only with the charger supplied with the connected watch.

Wireless charging is enjoying growing success with users
equipped devices, and recent consumer studies show
what90% want this featureon their next
device.

The iPhone maker would probably have preferred technology
innovative long-distance wireless charging like that of Energous,
however it is not yet 100% ready for use
commercial.

Apple certainly wants to offer a wireless charging solution for the
future iPhone which will be unveiled this year on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the famous
smartphone. It is then very likely that the Cupertino company will opt for the
QI wireless charging.
