All 2020 iPhones would have 5G

Last June, renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that only two of next year's three models would come with 5G. But he has just published a new report which reverses his previous predictions.

Specifically, it now claims that all iPhones released in 2020 would feature 5G, even the 2020 version of the iPhone XR. As a reminder, in 2020, according to the latest rumors, there will be three new iPhones in 5.4 inches, 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.

According to the analyst, thetakeover of Intel's modem divisionwill allow Apple to have additional resources to support 5G on all 2020 models, while using 5G chips from Qualcomm.

Additionally, 5G is going to be a necessary feature to have on all models in 2020, as we can expect mid-range Android smartphones (around $350) to have 5G next year.

5G is therefore a key feature to have next year, to convince users to consider a new iPhone as their next smartphone.

The analyst believes that iPhone models equipped with 5G will be able to capture millimeter waves (high bandwidth, short range), and frequency bands below 6 GHz (low bandwidth, but greater range).

As a reminder, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, the 2020 version of the iPhone XS Max would have a screen size of 6.7 inches, larger than the current 6.5 inch model. While the 2020 version of the iPhone XS would adopt a smaller screen size of 5.4 inches, compared to the current 5.8 inches.

Regarding the 2020 version of the iPhone XR, this model would retain a screen size of 6.1 inches, but would replace the LCD display with an OLED screen. Which would mean that all iPhones next year would include an OLED screen.
