Niantic, the publisher of Pokémon GO, announced the launch of its “exploration system” on October 25. Behind this somewhat strange acronym, we actually find a new feature which aims toencourage a more active lifestyle.
In practice, this isreuse activities captured by the iPhone or Apple Watch within the gameand stored in HeathKit, the database visible via the Health app. The first game to benefit from it isPokémon GOof course, which already has the characteristic of encouraging walking and being active.
The game can thus synchronize with HealthKit on iOS (and Google Fit on Android).
It thus allows players to have access toa weekly recapshowing distance walked as well as other stats like steps and calories burned. But that's not all, becausefor players, there is a particularly motivating aspectto this integration.
Indeed, the Exploration System will allow Trainers toconvert their activities and movements of the day, such as morning commutes or evening jogging, in Pokémon GO activity. In other words,even if the game is not launched, daily trips allow you to obtain the rewardsclassics such as the candies found by the Companion Pokémon or to hatch the precious eggs faster. Quite practical for those who don't want to have the energy-hungry game running all day!
The publisher also indicates that this integration allows you to participate in weekly events that reward efforts.
This transversal system will undoubtedly be integrated into other Niantic productions, we are thinking in particular ofHarry Potter game currently in development.
There remains an unknown factor, after having made our mouths water, know that the publisher has not communicated a release date... Too bad, but we will keep you informed as soon as it arrives.
Updated Nov 3: the deployment of the function is in progress. Started on Nov. 1 for players above level 40, it has since been extended to lower levels (level 33, visible on Nov. 2 for example).
To activate it, you must go to the screen ofoptionsand check “Crawl Tracking“.
