iCloud Drive has started to make its
appearance withiOS 8. As we have
could see it this morning, it is also available under Windows even before
land on Mac.
However, between what we saw in June during the conference
opening of the WWDC and what exists today certain things lend themselves to
confusion. This article is therefore here to try to clarify things and
to answer questions you may have about iCloud
Drive :
But where is the iCloud Drive app?
The answer here is simple, don't look for it,she doesn't exist
not. In June, during Tim Cook's demonstration, some had
imagined that Apple was going to launch an iCloud Drive app. This is not the
cas.
iCloud Drive is a tool available to developers who can
choose or not to integrate it into their applications. Currently, only
some apps are compatible and can thus send their documents to
iCloud Drive. This is when the famous window appears with the view folders
during the June keynote.
But then, what's new?
Before iOS 8, it was already possible to send documents to iCloud the
new this year is that apps have access to iCloud Drive. I
explains to me.
Previously, a document created with an app could be stored in the
Cloud. Only the app it was created with could access it.
From now on, with iCloud Drive it is no longer a simple platform for
storage. A document created with an 'a' app can then be modified with
another app 'b' and still stored in the same place.
Another new feature, iCloud Drive makes it easier to switch from iOS to computer. In
indeed, if in iOS it is linked to apps. On the computer iCloud Drive is
materialized in the form of a folder like Dropbox is elsewhere. THE
files are therefore very easily accessible.
How do I access my iCloud Drive files?
On Mac, you will have to wait for the arrival of OS X Yosemite. On Windows, the
iCloud control panel already gives access to the famous folder
which I spoke about above.
On iOS you must therefore go through compatible applications such as
those of Readdleto access the files. Dropbox and company have therefore
probably still have good days ahead of them.
