Since iOS 10, Apple's Photos app on iPhone and iPad automatically generates photo montages, called “Memories”. These generally correspond to events, for example, a week spent on vacation in a certain place for a week. But it is also possible to see these “Memories” for loved ones in the “Persons” album, or even specific places via the “Places” album. All this is generated automatically, however, Apple has remained very discreet about thepossibility to choose the photos yourselfthat we want to see integrated into a “Souvenir” video.
So if you want to take back control forautomatically create a montage of a selection of photos made by you, here is how to do it:
The creation of “Souvenirs” is done by album. First of all, you must create a new album in which the photos of your choice will be integrated:
- In the Photos app, go to the Albums tab
- Press “+” to add a new album and confirm with “New album”
- Choose a name for this new album, validate by clicking “Save”
You must then select the photos to integrate into this album, they are the ones that will ultimately end up in the video montage.
- pressing on a photo allows you to select it, but to go faster, it is also possible to slide your finger after a long press to select more.
- once all the photos have been chosen, press “OK” to validate
Then, you have to press the name of the album at the top, the one that has an arrow on its right.
The memory preview is then displayed:
It is then possible to view it, personalize it, then share it.
The automatically created memory video should normally contain a subset of the photos that were previously grouped in the album, but not necessarily all of them.
In practice, by modifying the length of the “souvenir”, it includes more or fewer photos.
And there you have it, you have created a montage very quickly with only your favorite photos!
