- Investment bank Morgan Stanley is banking on wild success for Reality Pro
- This Apple mixed reality headset would be available in only a few hundred thousand units in 2023
- But ultimately, the sector could represent five hundred billion dollars in potential profits for Apple!
A new report from the investment bank Morgan Stanley assures that theReality Pro, a mixed reality headset supposedly designed by Apple, will indeed be released during the Worldwide Developer Conference. Herkeynoteopening is scheduled for today at 7 p.m. (Paris time). According to the establishment, the Apple firm is preparing to leave the factory no less than three hundred to five hundred thousand units during the calendar year 2023, i.e. the period which ends on December 31.
Such numbers allow our source of the day to bet on a selling price of AAPL shares of no less than190 dollars, which is about 10 more than its current value and 5 more than the previous forecast. Enough to almost reach three trillion dollars in capitalization on Wall Street, which has already been exceeded in the past.
Success, really?
To go further, Morgan Stanley even estimates that the Reality Pro would be released in December, i.e. after the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro, to attract up to three or four million users by the end of 2025. But this is not all, since in terms of revenue, the platform associated with the virtual reality headset would bring in nearly twenty billion dollars in just three years on the market. Eithermore than AirPods wireless headphones, which are today the best-selling in the world in their segment.
In order to explain this rather daring bet, let us recall on the one hand that the Reality Pro could cost a trifle of more thanthree thousand dollars, so potentially perhaps around three thousand five hundred euros in France. On the other hand, we know that this device will focus a lot on gaming, a positioning desired in particular by Phil Schiller, the marketing man from Cupertino. However, players are the most inclined to makein-app purchasesto progress in their games. Transactions on which Apple now charges 15 or 30% commission, depending on the case. THEsideloadingcould be a game changer, but it still hasn't been announced yet.
And if Meta had been right
With this, Morgan Stanley also thinks that the sector penetrated by the Reality Pro could weighone hundred billion dollars by 2030, and five times more seven years later. Results which echo the ambitions of Meta (ex-Facebook) although much criticized by its shareholders, Mark Zuckerberg's brand has just presented a new frame also giving pride of place to augmented reality. The Quest 3will coston the other hand less than 600 euros: AirPods Max are more expensive.
