After the Google fine, the European Union launches investigations into Android

While Google is fined
record of 2.4 billion euros for having promoted Google Shopping, its
online shopping service now defunct, to the detriment of competitors, the
search giant reappears in the sights of the European Union
for Android.

The competition services of the European Union have set up a panel
of experts to give a second opinion on the dominant position of Android,
Google's mobile operating system.

If this panel confirms the initial conclusions of the first team, Google
could beliable to another finewhich would exceed the
amount of that concerning Google Shopping.

In April 2016, following a joint complaint from several companies such as
FairSearch, Disconnect Inc, Aptoide, and Yandex, the European Commission had
accused Google of using Android's dominant position to head off
concurrence.

According to documents filed by the EU, this abuse of dominant position would have
started in January 2011 and continues today according to several
mobile operators.

If ever this new panel of experts were to confirm the conclusions
initials of the first team of specialists, Google could be led to
review its practices, and in particular no longer ask manufacturers to
smartphones to include services like Google Search, Google Play, or even
the Google Chrome browser.

After Google Shopping and Android, the European Union is not finished yet
with Google, since the Adsense advertising network is also in their
collimator.
