AsAmazon would have planned this with its Alexa alternative, Apple Intelligence could soon offer a paid version. This would complement the free offer with additional features, but the developer has not yet confirmed the file at the moment. Until then, however, we can count on information from journalist Mark Gurman to see things more clearly: he was not stingy with details last Sunday. So here is what it is.
A subscription subscription model
For starters, Mark Gurman suggests that the paid version of Apple Intelligence would not beaccessible only by subscription. So we might have to pay a fixed price every month to take advantage of its features. The price in question has not yet been leaked, but is likely to cause a lot of discussion. We know that on iOS, many users regret this type of billing. Apps with a one-time purchase seem to be becoming increasingly rare.
However, the subscription model seems to be the most appropriate for Apple Intelligence, since the tool consumes energy depending on the volume of user requests. So, of course, Apple's premises all run 100% on renewable energy now. But it would in any case be surprising to see the company differentiate itself from the competition in terms of pricing, and the latter already does not hesitate to offer us monthly packages. ChatGPT Plus, for example, today costs around twenty euros per month. And with Amazon's Remarkable Alexa, the cost could reach up to ten euros per month.
Included in the Apple One offer?
Undoubtedly, if the paid version of Apple Intelligence actually asks us to subscribe, then the offer could be included within the Apple One suite. This already provides access in turn to Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, iCloud+ and Apple Music. Anda sixth service would offer even better value for moneythan single subscriptions, for the best-provided offer.
It's difficult to know more at the moment, but the number of requests accessible to users could then depend, precisely, on the price of the Apple One package chosen. For comparison, we know that today you have to pay 19.95 euros per month for the Apple One Individual offer. This allows you to enjoy 50 GB of storage on iCloud+, Apple TV+, Apple Music and Apple Arcade unlimitedly.
Apple Intelligence Premium could also be available on its own, but later. At Alphabet, in fact, the artificial intelligence of Google One plans has reached the general public after first attracting users of the professional Workspace suite.
Apple Intelligence could take inspiration from Poe
Always according toBloomberg, switching to the paid version of Apple Intelligence could also allow us to access other AI than ChatGPT without leaving our Mac or our iPhone. Several big names in tech have already been leaked as potential partners, including, among others, Anthropic (Claude), Alphabet and Meta. The second is marketing todayGemini, which in its Nano version integrates with competing devices. Samsung is already taking advantage of this with Galaxy AI, and the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro also have it. The collaboration between Sundar Pichai's firm and that of Tim Cook is expected to be announced by this fall, probably.
Meta, for its part, develops the language modelLLAMA, but it does not yet seem to have been able to convince the general public. What's more, Facebook's processing of our personal data seems light years away from what Apple is trying to make us believe with its own privacy policy.
Additional features for Apple Intelligence in premium version
Beyond the possibility of accessing new AI with iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, the paid version of Apple Intelligence will probably also be an opportunity to test additional features. With ChatGPT Plus, users can, for example, access new features in advance, more powerful language models or even an unlimited number of queries. Image generation via DALL-E is also available as an option, but Apple Intelligence already offers it for free.
In any case, it seems that norelease dateclearer has been revealed for this new subscription, for the moment. But we may have to wait for long quarters until new Apple devices are compatible. Indeed, for the moment, only Apple silicon Macs, iPad M1s, iPad M2s,iPad M4, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are compatible.
The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max should also be eligible for Apple Intelligence in September, but the fate of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus remains uncertain for the moment.
- Apple Intelligence could have a premium, paid version
- This could allow us to access new AI, such as LLAMA or Gemini Nano
