Video: what Daft Punk and the iPhone 15 have in common

The 128 GB of internal storage of the iPhone 15. Apple has decided to highlight this very particular technical characteristic in a new promotional campaign, published, for once, on its YouTube channel. We then recognize a particularly evocative soundtrack, with sounds which are reminiscent of those of French Touch songs from the end of the 1990s and the beginning of the 2000s. watch the original video of the song by artist Terrace Martin featured here;Don’t Let Go, to note that many comments easily compare the track to the productions of our famous national Daft Punk.

If, despite everything, you want to treat yourself to a better-equipped iPhone 15, don't panic: the device is obviously also available with more memory. Count on 256 GB of internal storage to double the space offered, or 512 GB for the best-equipped version of the mobile. Unfortunately, there is no edition of the iPhone 15 with 1TB of memory. Only the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are entitled to it, in any case, for this generation. Besides, we haven't really heard about the arrival of an iPhone 16 or an iPhone 16 Plus with 1 TB of storage, for the moment, and that's a shame.

The iPhone 15s also come with 5 GB of online storage space, via iCloud. This is the envelope offered free of charge, which can be increased butfor a fee.

A decidedly high-end technical sheet

Beyond their storage capacity which can therefore be substantial, be aware that the iPhone 15s are also equipped with a proprietary chip: theA16 Bionic. This is the same motherboard that still equips the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Also count six gigabytes of RAM, this feature allowing you to open many apps at the same time without the system starting to slow down too much.

For comparison, Samsung, for example, chose a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip from Qualcomm for its latest premium smartphones. It is also very efficient hardware, however the Korean does not benefit here from optimization between the software and the components, which Apple can do. On the other hand, at Cupertino, the definition of the back sensors is limited to twelve or forty-eight megapixels – depending on the lens. Where Samsung does much better, for example with the Galaxy S23 Ultra and its two hundred megapixel wide-angle.

Point Photos

In Apple's promotional video, we also see that the images stored by the iPhone 15 user are animated, which is of course reminiscent of the Live Photos format often activated automatically and, therefore, therefore, the target of numerous criticisms. What the developer doesn't say, however, is that its Photos app also allows you to recognize the faces of the people you immortalize: practical. It is even possible to create automatic albums, when the system identifies your pets: dogs, cats, etc.

Snapshots stored in Photos areend-to-end encrypted, automatically. Thanks to synchronization and Continuity, you can then view the images from your iPad, Mac or even your iPod touch, even without having access to your iPhone 15. Alternatives exist, notably with the appEntitywhich recently made the headlines in our columns, or with Google Photos, particularly used on Android.
