Recently,we presented to you the new Mimoji from Xiaomi. These are new 3D avatars, coming with the latest CC9 mobile from the Chinese brand.
These Mimoji showed a striking feature: astrong resemblance to Apple Memoji.
Well, obviously, at Xiaomi, when we copy, we don't do things by halves. Indeed, a user of Weibo, a widely used social network in China, revealed that on two major online sales platforms in the country, Xiaomi promoted its Mimoji with... an Apple ad for Memoji!
Here's the screenshot that's making the rounds on the internet right now. This is this promotion from Xiaomi for its Mimoji, with below, a commercial spot to launch:

The Chinese brand quickly took all of its ads containing the video offline. The public relations manager at Xiaomi, Xu Jieyun, even published a post on Weibo specifying that the upload of this Apple video was an error on the part of the company. It would therefore have used the content of the Californian firm by mistake.
However, it's hard to believe that this wasn't intentional on the manufacturer's part. We can still let them benefit in this case. But this confirms that the Chinese manufacturer's Mimoji are really copies of Apple's Memoji, since even Xiaomi confuses the two versions...
