We remember that
Nuance (Dragon Dictation) seemed to get closer to Applefor one
voice recognition service similar to that
offered by the Siri application presented in this articlebought by
Apple and since removed from the App Store.
During
of the presentation of iOS 5 reported here, big surprise sincein
this partnership nor features of this type have been implemented
avant.
But developers with access to Beta versions of iOS 5 have nevertheless
found traces of a voice recognition service in the
code:
In terms of operation, the integration could be done via a button or
a key on the keyboard which will trigger voice recognition (“start” button
in the code below). This button will bring up a screen indicating that
the iPhone is "listening" via the microphone, a double tap on this screen will indicate that
the "voice dictation" is finished, this will bring up the keyboard again and
the recognized text will be available.
The fact that this is not officially presented or accessible
directly in the Beta of iOS 5 may be linked to the fact that the functionality
is not finished in terms of development, or even that these functionalities
voice assistant and voice dictation integrated into the system could be
reserved for theiPhone 5.
And in the meantime, for those who want to have aidea of abilities
voice recognitionunder iOS, you can:
