The analyst specializing in Apple and working for the firm TF International Securities has signed a very interesting new report. We know that Touch ID could be there on iPhone in 2020, more precisely with an entry-level model at number 9, expected formonth of March. But the following year, according to the source, Apple would still rely on this unlocking technology on its smartphones.
And it is not yet a question of placing the fingerprint sensor under the screen, as we can already see with certain competitors, but of seeing it migrate to a slice of the mobile device. The sensor would be specifically integrated into the iPhone's Power button.
This is a technology also already seen with other manufacturers, such as Samsung, on its Galaxy A7, or even Honor on its 20 Pro.

In addition, in 2017, rumors saw Apple using this remote Touch ID technique on its iPhone 8. A patent registered in the name of the Californian firmwas also published several years ago.
The revelation of Ming-Chi Kuo therefore does not seem incredible. Taking advantage of a Touch ID on the side would allow the iPhone to offer a completely edge-to-edge screen panel, without a notch. Because the model precisely described by the analyst would be equipped with LCD and devoid of Face ID and therefore of notch. We would therefore truly have an iPhone with a full front screen.
This should have a 5.5 or 6.1 inch panel and could take over from the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 expected this year, in the form of a “Plus” version.
