5 Android features that we would like to have on iOS 19

Since the arrival of smartphones, two operating systems have been faced. The first, closed complement and exclusive to iPhone: iOS is the only reference at Apple. Used by billions of people, it is evolving every year, with software updates and new features, presented during WWDC.

On the other hand, smartphone manufacturers around the world use a unique model: Android. The bone built by Google is used worldwide, both by Samsung, Xiaomi and, obviously, Google. Very different from iOS, the two operating systems are nevertheless aware of the advances of their opponent.

Whenever a feature is talked about on iOS, it ends up arriving on Android, and the reverse is generally true. Nevertheless, some options, available onles smartphones Android, sometimes for years, have never come to the iPhone.

Storage with USB OTG

When you connect your iPhone to a computer with a USB cable, you have access to your photos and videos, and that's it. On Android, users have their hands on the entire internal storage of their smartphone. It is then possible to share any file, without necessarily being a media.

A functionality that has never appeared on iOS. Details all the same that Apple has set up an option to transfer wireless files, with Airdrop, but it is limited to the devices of its ecosystem. You can always try to send a PDF to your PC withAirDrop, it won't work.

Le split screen

Another very important feature on Android smartphones, the "Split Screen". As its name suggests, it allows you to have two applications open at the same time on the screen. This option is unfortunately not available on iPhone, and this seems to be a deliberate choice on the part of Apple.

The apple brand has the technical capacities necessary to develop this option, proof is, it did it on the iPad. But never such an option has made its arrival on the iPhone. This could be an interesting update withiOS 19.

Several user accounts

All Apple products must be linked to an "identifier" to be used. Problem, it is impossible to use two simultaneously. Android smartphones have been offering a "guest" mode for years. This makes it possible to create temporary and limited use, perfect for a child for example.

Such a functionality would be very interesting in the Apple ecosystem, especially for products shared by several members of the same family, like an iPad. The usefulness of a "guest" mode on the iPhone is more questionable, smartphones being an intrinsically thought out product for personal use.

Volume control

Apple offers its iPhone to adjust the volume of its smartphone in one way. All alerts, ringtones and media outings are set to the same sound intensity. A standard on iOS which is no longer even questioned as it is part of the walls.

But on Android things are very different. Google offers, for example, on its pixels to modify the volume of its notifications, and/or reading music. The two tracks have different volume management. So you can listen to your music as much as possible, and keep your phone with a weak ringtone.

More confidentiality

Apple is known worldwide to fight for respect for confidentiality and the right to privacy. Although it may seem paradoxical, the apple brand does not propose to manually deactivate the camera, location or NFC chip from its iPhone from the control center.

An adjustment which however exists on many Android smartphones. Apple could very well add a small update in iOS 19 to correct this. To know all the features expected in this update,You can consult this article. Apple should officially launch iOS 19 at the beginning of June.
