Clearly, there are a lot of beta versions arriving today. After anew edition of iOS 17 for developersand oneotherOn the macOS Sonoma side, Apple has indeed decided to update its wireless headphones. The 6A5289c version of their operating system is thus available for the AirPods 3, for the second generation AirPods Pro and for the AirPods Max wireless headset.
Some new features are here. More precisely, five in number, these are however dedicated only to AirPods Pro 2. We then assume that for the other editions, it is above all stability improvements and fixes that are proposed.
Now let's take a look at the features in question.
The 5 improvements of AirPods Pro 2
Adaptive audio
Apple defines the Adaptive Audio feature as follows: “a new listening mode that dynamically merges Transparency and Active Noise Reduction modes depending on the conditions in which the user finds themselves in order to offer them the best possible experience at the moment“. The change was first announced at the Worldwide Developer Conference last June.

Mute or unmute
WithMute or unmute, now you can simply press the stem of the second generation AirPods Pro to mute or unmute the mic when needed. A very practical asset during calls, whether via FaceTime or another compatible app.
Custom volume
With AirPods Pro 2, theCustom volumeautomatically adjusts the sound according to your environment and listening habits. Of course, you always have control over the sound power if necessary: let's not forget that as this new feature is in beta for the moment, its reliability is not 100% guaranteed.
Conversation detection
It can sometimes be difficult to start a conversation when your hands are full and AirPods are in your ears. To remedy this, Apple offers theConversation detectionwhich automatically reduces the volume of the sound as soon as the user starts speaking. Likewise, the system reduces ambient noise and increases the power of voices captured from the front.
This feature could be particularly handy in the office or on public transport.
Change for theAutomatic failover
Finally, Apple explains that it has improved the connection time between the different devices of its brand and the AirPods. This is about moving from one different content to another: not to be confused with functionalityHandoff.
What about the other AirPods, then?
For the moment, the other AirPods are therefore not entitled to these new features. But for some, this will soon be the case. Indeed, Apple has already announced thatMute or unmutewill for example also be offered on the first generation AirPods Pro, on theAirPods Maxand on the third generation “classic” AirPods. For the helmet, however, you will have to go through theDigital Crownto control this option.
