How to bring up the iOS 9 News app on iPhone, iPad

iOS 9 introduced a competitor
to Flipboard: an application for reading the news: News, this
news application is present by default, but it is not for
currently active only for American users.

As you can imagine, it currently only offers news in
English language, but normally Apple will also extend it to other countries.
Apple had also noted in the iOS 9 release note, the presence of
l’application News.

So for the most curious, who want to see what it looks like, know
that it is possible to make the app appear by tinkering a little.

Please note, the manipulation requires going through iOS US options,
then return to the French style. We cannot guarantee at this stage that this will not
no impact. To be done only for those who have made a backup and
do not have vital data or critical use of their
iPhone !

Here's how to do it:

  • go to the settings, “General” section, then choose “Language and
Region", then locate the Regional Formats section.
  • You must then modify the "France" region normally, to choose
United States (you guessed it). Validate region definition
  • the machine will restart (don't worry, this goes through a screen
    noir)
  • and presto the News app has arrived, with its Pink icon

It then offers to choose your sources, allows you to search for content
and designate favorites. She indicates that she is learning habits from
reading to offer content adapted to the reader afterwards.

Here are the first screens, with the selection of sources highlighted
avant :

and the list of articles:

And to get back to normal? It's quite simple, you have to redo it
same manipulation, choosing “France” as the region again.
L’News application then remains present in the iOS apps
9
.

Did it work for those who tried?
