Unless you live
for several years in a cave, you know without a doubt
thatApple and Samsung face off in several
legal battles. Reuters returns to the subject with an article which
seems to indicate thatApple's current CEO wasn't really up for it
for this battle.
At the time Steve Jobs was in charge and found the smartphones of
Samsung much too close to its own. Tim Cook who wanted to preserve the
supplier relations with Samsung were more reserved:
Concerned about the relationship with one of the main suppliers, Tim Cook would have
obviously preferred to handle this differently. But Steve Jobs saw things
from another angle and suspected Samsung of rightly considering itself protected thanks
to this strong commercial relationship.
Obviously, Steve Jobs had no use for Tim Cook's moods and
finally decided to attack Samsung after attempts to
negotiation.
Since then, we have known the story (not yet its outcome, however) and the
Relations between the two companies deteriorated. Apple started to
replace Samsung for many of the components of the iPhone and iPad, but
stay when
even very dependent on the giant.
Even ifthe trial of
this summer turned to Apple's advantage, the Cupertino company did not succeed
to go all the way and have Samsung's products banned.
One question remains, why is this 'information' coming out now or is this
confrontation is not particularly in the news? Should we see a
signal of appeasement sent by Apple or did Reuters suddenly have
access to a source close to the two men. Odd …
In any case, we should not be surprised if an amicable agreement is announced
suddenly if indeed Tim Cook is more reserved than Steve Jobs was
on the subject. But when?
