Apple and Samsung: confrontation certainly, but linked interests to be preserved!

We mentioned inThis item
from Saturday the judges' decision favorable to Apple in the copying trial
committed against Samsung
. We should talk about the subject again in the coming weeks.
come of course because it isof a first judgment, likely
appeal, modifications
also in the amounts allocated, while
that Apple requests a ban on the sale of several smartphone models
Samsung in the US. But in the meantime,Apple and Samsung remain
close business partners
and we will have to preserve this
mutual interest...

It seems that Samsung is working on this:

Reuters reports
that a “crisis” meeting was held this Sunday in Seoul
to evoke the verdict,
judged internally by Samsung as 'the worst scenario envisaged'
(the
the company's price also fell by 7% after the verdict) but this is the
director of the mobile division who was present, while Kwon Oh-hyun,
CEO of Samsung, did not take part.

It turns out that he is actually directly in charge of the components part
of the electronics giant and therefore customer supplier relationships with their
biggest partner in this area: Apple. This is analyzed as a
message showing that, while Samsung will logically continue to fight on the
judicial front, the two activities are independent and must not have
of impact on each other. In other words, Samsung does not want to implement
the deal with Apple is dangerous and for good reason, it is enormous and represents
billion dollars.

So Samsung is the manufacturer of the processors used in the iPhone and
the iPad, provides the memories used in these same products but also
with LG and others, the South Korean is in charge of screen manufacturing.
In the end, 26% of the manufacturing cost of an iPhone would be estimated
return to Samsung for a total income of 13 billion dollars and above all
$2.2 billion in profits or 8% of Samsung's profit.

On the Apple side, the dependence is obvious and major. Although having started,
since 2010 and the first heated exchanges with Samsung, to diversify its
suppliers, the giant remains very dependent on Samsung and could not
move to the short term. Samsung understands this well and could use it
possibly in the upcoming negotiations between the two, but remains
cautious, one of its leaders who participated in the meeting affirming that "the
supplier contract remained independent of legal actions and that this
was not going to change
".

Good news for future supplies for the next
machines d’Apple !

And this is the opportunity for a mini press review following Saturday's judgment which
if it affects Samsung, also aims in watermark, Google, its Android system
and by extension the other manufacturers:
