Revealed by the presence of files and other elements in the iOS 13 code, we have known for several months thatApple is working on an object tracker, which could be revealed very soon or early next year.
This “Tile” type Bluetooth tracker would make it possible to find an object lost in nature such as a wallet, bag, bicycle, key ring or other that does not have an internet connection, as soon as an iPhone or other Apple product passes by. near the latter.
While waiting for Apple to lift the veil on this new product, new information on this tracker has been discovered in the files of the public version of iOS 13.2. The developer Guilherme Rambo, known in the Apple universe, unearthed a reference to the name “AirTag“.

Within iOS 13.2, there is a folder called AirTag which contains several elements including a video resource called “BatterySwap“, suggesting thatthe battery of this tracker could be replaced.
It could therefore be that this is not a “disposable” product or the battery cannot be replaced without destroying the object such as the Tile tracker or the AirPods.
This object would be usedvia a new tab in the Find My app, which should display the location of lost items to which the user has attached an AirTag.
It would be possible to use augmented reality to find lost objects equipped with this famous tracker. It seems that iOS 13 would also allow you to add a virtual “leash” between the AirTag and an iOS or watchOS device, in order to warn the user when the tag moves out of range of an iPhone or Apple Watch.
Here is a video explaining how this AirTag works:
