Shortly after the release of AirTags, the Chipolo brand unveileda new, very similar accessory: the One Spot. This also works with the Locate app, which makes it easy to find by following clear directions provided with the orientation of your iPhone. It was enough for some people to take the opportunity to test it, starting with the English blogCult of Mac.
The site thus paints a generally very flattering portrait of the two brands, but also notes some notable differences that it is good to know before making your choice. First of all, it is obviously the external appearance of the devices that allows them to be distinguished from each other. So, where the AirTag is white, the One Spot is black and other products in the same range even offer more colors such as red or blue. On the other hand, no metal on the menu but a simple, dull plastic.

A real key ring from Chipolo
Furthermore, still regarding the design, the Chipolo beacon is the only one to have a hole in which the rings of a bunch of keys can be inserted. It will therefore probably be the most ideal to avoid finding yourself stuck in front of your home or at the door of your car following an unfortunate oversight. The AirTag, on the other hand, is far from offering this advantage but is still malleable enough so thatDIY enthusiasts can modify it manually.
Finally, looking at the main functionality of the small device, we also see that it sounds much louder than the AirTag,who was rightly criticized for being too discreet. In addition, Bluetooth connectivity has a greater range. Therefore, the need to be close to an Apple device is less likely to be an issue.

Not the same price, of course
As you might imagine, Apple's prestige means that its AirTag is more expensive thanthe Chipolo One Spot. It costs thirty-five euros to buy a single model, compared to one hundred and nineteen euros for the pack of four. The competition, on the other hand, is therefore more accessible: thirty or one hundred euros, depending on the same quantities. But only pre-orders are possible at this time, and the gadget is not yet listed on Amazon.
However, other manufacturers offer their own alternatives on the American store website:don't hesitate to take a look.
