This is not the first time we have heard of aAirTag found by a car owner in his vehicle.According to information from the local press, this new theft attempt took place in Detroit. Malicious people would have placed an AirTag in his vehicle in order to be able to track it and steal it.
After parking his car in a shopping center, a 2028 Dodge Charger, John Nelson received a notification as he returned to his vehicle. The latter allowed him to make this AirTag emit a sound that was not known as his.
After being able to locate where the sound was coming from,John Nelson found the trace of the AirTag. The latter was deliberately very well hidden under the car. The person behind this attempted theft had in fact unscrewed a drain plug under the trunk, in order to hide the AirTag there.
Apple : solution maison
As we told you above, this is not the first time that the police have published a report where AirTags are not used as they were intended. But it is encouraging to note that here Apple's new system, which allows you to ring an AirTag that is not yours to work.
Apple's system therefore did perfectly what it was designed to do. But the latter nevertheless has limits. In fact, this solution currently only exists on iOS phones, for Android devices, you must download a specific application developed by Apple for the occasion.
