Before all OLED, Apple would go with “Full Active” LCD screens in 2018

According torecent
rumors
, Apple would offer three iPhone models next year, two with
OLED screen with a size of 5.85 and 6.46 inches and a third with a screen
LCD larger than 6 inches.

According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple is adopting
écrans LCD "Full Active"from Japan Display for some
iPhone models of this 2018 generation.

OLED display technology has several advantages over
traditional LCD screens, namely greater finesse, lower consumption
lower energy, better black levels and brighter colors
deeper and richer.

However, it seems according to various experts that Full Active LCD screens
from Japan Display offer thesame performancethat the screens
OLED, but at a lower cost.

The borders of Full Active LCD screens are also much thinner than
traditional LCD screens, i.e. around 0.5 mm compared to several millimeters,
which would make it possible to offer edge-to-edge screens which are very popular in this
moment.

For now, only the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 uses this new type of display
LCD, but other smartphones are expected to follow suit next year.

Not only are the production capacities of OLED screens limited,
but the latter also cost much more than LCD screens, it does not
It would therefore not be surprising that the Cupertino company uses this new type
LCD screen before moving to all OLED in 2019.
