A new line of Apple devices is apparently in the works

According to source code from the operating system of Apple devices, a mysterious device called “HomeAccessory17,1,” was seen there. However, according to an analysis ofMacRumorsjust published, this could be a reference to a still unofficial official product. In other words, perhaps we are talking here about an item currently being tested, a prototype or any other machine intended to appear in stores within a few months.

This nomenclature is reminiscent of that which, internally, designates theHomePod. And it just so happens that rumors have been suggesting, for several months now, that a connected speaker with a screen could see the light of day at Apple. This potential device should be considered with caution, as the manufacturer has not yet revealed anything about it.

A mix between the HomePod and the iPad?

For several weeks, it has also been assumed that aFifteen-inch iPadis in the pipeline. This tablet could then be accompanied by an imposing speaker, in order to serve as a voice assistant for the living room, like the Nest devices from Google or the Meta Portal from the ex-Facebook.

We don't know much more at the moment, but Apple is expected to organize a conference in September where the new iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will be announced. This would then be the ideal opportunity to announce a new version of the HomePod with screen, which we have already seen in patents.

Operating system might change

In all likelihood, the operating system of this newHomePodpotential could be called “homeOS“. The name was also relayed byMacRumorspreviously.

We then assume that, as with visionOS, most iPad or iPhone apps will be available natively. OnApple Vision Pro, you can, for example, view photos captured on a mobile using Photos, or exchange emails with Mail.

Would you be ready to replace your Amazon Echo with an alternative from Apple? If yes, why?
