Apple: “no removal of web apps in Europe with iOS 17.4”

You know if you read us regularly, iOS 17.4 should be released next week in final version (Monday or Tuesday, depending on our forecasts). This new iPhone software update bringsseveral major new features, especially for EU users. Indeed, as its various betas have shown, iOS 17.4 will make it possible to use third-party App Stores and third-party web engines. On the other hand, by gaining this opening, the EU lost the use of web applications. In any case, this is what the latest test version of the OS showed.

iOS 17.4 keeps web apps, even in Europe

But Apple justofficially confirm: with iOS 17.4, even in Europe and the EU, web applications, often nicknamed PWA for progressive web apps, will continue to work.

This is good news for all those who were worried about the disappearance of the functionality, as the downside of the arrival of third-party App Stores.

Moreover, this last changeworried a lot, particularly for security reasons. Furthermore, if Europe pushed for this opening, we are not sure that it really serves users.

But the question is complex, especially since the developers could well gain financially in the process.

But from a user perspective, is this really a good thing? On Twitter in any case, only 26% of you are convinced of this at the time of publication of this article.

iOS 17.4 is expected to be released next week with third-party App Stores for EU iPhones. Good or bad thing in your opinion?
