Apple no longer signs iOS 16.2 and leaves the field open to iOS 16.3

That's it, iOS 16.2 is already history. In fact, a few hours ago, Apple stopped signing this version of iOS. The reason is very simple,iOS 16.3 has just arrived, with him, his lotimprovements and fixes.iOS 16.3 therefore pushes iOS 16.2 out of the loop.

  • iOS 16.2 can no longer be installed
  • iOS 16.3 is the only version of iOS 16 offered to compatible devices
  • iOS 16.4 should show up soon

What consequences for iOS 16.2?

Stopping the signing of iOS 16.2 has two consequences to understand. The first is that it is no longer possible, for those who have not yet updated their machine to iOS 16.2 and who have remained on a previous version, to install iOS 16.2.Only iOS 16.3 is available to them at this stage.

Second consequence: those who have already installed iOS 16.3 can no longer go back.Impossible de “downgrader” vers iOS 16.2.

What's in it for Apple?

Users are therefore encouraged to install iOS 16.3, which allows Apple to increase its statistics regarding its fleet of up-to-date devices. In addition, an up-to-date machine fleet is logically a safer machine fleet against hacking. On the other hand, users benefit from the latest advances in security and bug fixes. Their data is therefore better protected.

Concerning the evolution of iOS 16, iOS 16.3 being the last general public version of iOS offered to everyone, it is iOS 16.4 which is now expected. For the moment, no beta version has been deployed by Apple. But it won't be long. We will obviously not fail to notify you of the release of the first beta of iOS 16.4, with all the changes included.

Notice to readers, do you have your iPhone up to date with iOS 16.3? Is everything working well?
