Tensions between the USA and China have led the two countries to successively increase their respective customs fees, a situation which has impacted several American firms such as Apple. On September 1, taxes on products from China increased by 15%, which means that the products that the Apple brand manufactures in the Middle Kingdom and resells in the USA cost the company more. Tim Cook.
Once again, Apple wants to avoid taxes
Apple recently sent a letter to the US government to try to be exempted once again from these taxes. In the document, the American company lists the 11 products concerned, for example its iMac, its AirPods, its Apple Watch, batteries andsome of its components dedicated to the iPhone.
Tim Cook's firm explains that it is unable to find another source that can supply it with these products, which by definition obliges it to go through China. It also indicates that the devices concerned are general public products which have no links with the relations currently maintained by the two territories.
Initially, Donald Trump declared that he would not allow any exemptions to Apple, except that the American company still obtained some exemptions in September, following previous taxes. This time, the administration will have to provide its response before November 14.
