He therefore carried out a series of in-depth analyzes on the Apple HomePod and
even specifies having spent several hours carrying out the measurements
almost as much time analyzing the data. Team with a microphone
special, he used different testing techniques, notably that of
the impulse response, but also that of distortion, to obtain
standardized results, comparable to those of other speakers on the market.
And it turns out that compared to theKEF X300Apar
example, a reference in the world of Hi-Fi, for equipment under the
bar of 1,000 euros in any case (the pair of X300As actually cost
around 800 euros in France), the HomePoddoes at least everything too
GOOD.
At the frequency level, the Apple speaker producestreble
exceptional, according to the tester, for a speaker of this size,
while limiting distortion to a very low level. In the frequencies
midrange, the response is particularly flat, but still manages to
put the voices forward in a beautiful way, always with a
impressive distortion limitation.
Finally, the bass is just as astonishing for a format such as that of the
HomePod.
But apart from a nice frequency response and controlled distortion, the
sound specialist seems even more seduced bythe adaptation of the
diffusion to the size and shape of the roomof HomePod. This
feature actually allows the speaker tolimit the
bad resonances, among other things, that certain
spaces and thus reduce the impact of the environment (walls, ceilings, etc.) on
sound reproduction. The HomePod therefore manages toshine even in
rooms far from being the most welcoming for listening
musical!
The passionate tester, however, concludes his analysis by hoping for

especially for Siri which remains limited, which is also indicated by many
other early adopters. Despite everything, he seemed completely amazed by the
audio qualities of the Apple HomePod.
