Test: we solved the crimes of the dystopian Whispers of A Machine, new iPhone, iPad game

Video games have the gift of being able to take the player to another country, another world or another time, past or future. And in the latter case, developers often imagine very dark times to come for humanity, with the advent of robots and AI. And the new title Whispers Of A Machine is part of this trend.

It is a narrative adventure game, featuring point-and-click mechanics, which takes the player to a time where humans can benefit from nanorobotic augmentations. The title has already attracted players on PC. Here it is now playable on iPhone and iPad.

In Whispers Of A Machine, the player plays Vera. Vera is a cybernetically enhanced special agent tasked with investigating a series of murders. The adventure takes place in a futuristic world where the development of artificial intelligence has had a terrible impact on all of humanity.

The scenario begins with a first case of bloody crime. From there, Vera gradually discovers what will lead her to lift the veil on many secrets, particularly regarding AI technologies.

Everything is point-and-click. The game is then divided into scenes in which Vera can move around, interact with the characters and objects, but also observe and think.

The heroine has an inventory, but also a very special scanner, capable of revealing what is invisible to the human eye. Using this scanner is easy. Just swipe anywhere on the screen once the device is activated.

Vera can also benefit from increased abilities, including temporarily increased strength, but also boosted personality traits. These develop more or less according to the player's choices at different times in the game. Because there are many action choices to be made in Whispers Of A Machine, but also, and above all, dialogue choices.

In this regard, the game displays very well translated French subtitles. This does not prevent you from enjoying the excellent English dubbing, worthy of the biggest games on the market.

The soundtrack is also neat, as are the graphics, which are truly attractive. The game has a retro touch which gives it a very particular flavor.

The storyline is of high quality. Too bad the game is quite short. It doesn't take more than a handful of hours. Additionally, replayability is rather low, which is inherent to the genre.

Despite this, we recommend thisexcellent game. It will certainly take you on a truly exciting adventure. Finally, note that there are no in-app purchases to report and that the game is reserved for audiences aged over 17.
