Apple imagines an Apple Watch that recognizes its owner's skin texture

At the moment, the only way to authenticate on the Apple Watch is to enter a 4 or 6 digit code. While on the iPhone, iPhone, iPad and even Mac, there is a biometric method of authentication.

The US Patent Office has released details of a new patent submission by Apple. She describes an Apple Watch that would be capable ofrecognize the owner by their skin texture.

According to the images accompanying the patent and the description of how it works, Apple is considering adding a biometric authentication system to an Apple Watch. This system would make it possible to recognizeskin textureof the user.

For this, there would bea thermal image sensorwhich would be locatedon the bracelet, and more precisely on the internal part of the bracelet which is in contact with the skin.

This sensor couldanalyze skin textureof the wearer and recognize whether or not it is the owner of the Apple Watch.

However, we imagine that like Touch ID or Face ID, this sensor would have to be trained beforehand with several tests or trials, before it is operational.

Obviously, as is the case with each Apple patent, there is no guarantee that it will be used by the Apple firm for a future product. However, it gives an idea of the ways Apple is exploring to improve the security of the Apple Watch.
