Apple unveils iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus: what's changing

Who says September keynote says new iPhones. Apple did not deviate from the rule in 2022, and finally revealed to us the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, thus confirmingdoubts thatthe mini format is abandoned. On the menu, we find mobiles significantly similar to previous generations but with some improvements under the hood and of courseiOS 16 as operating system.

The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus should be available inpre-order starting this Friday, but Apple has not yet confirmed the information. We will update this article as soon as possible, in a few minutes. We can bet that the first customers will receive their device next week, with our tests to follow.

The iPhone 14 has a 6.1-inch screen and is powered by the A15 Bionic chip which has changed very little. For this model, we are entitled to five different colors: “midnight”, purple, blue, product RED and the classic “starlight”. The design also changes by a few millimeters.

As for power, the Lightning jack appears to have been retained as assumed. We will therefore have to wait another year to see USB-C ports arrive on Apple phones.

With this, the camera has been improved and the main sensor moves to an aperture of f1/5 for 12 MP. No Touch ID under the screen, but the notch has been retained for facial recognition unlocking.

iPhone 14 Plus

The iPhone 14 Plus is the big new addition to the iPhone collection. The idea here is to offer you a diagonal as imposing as that of the Pro Max models but with less luxurious technical characteristics: the camera, for example, does without a telephoto lens. No LiDAR either, but you'll still benefit from the iPhone 14's improved photo sensor.

The components of the iPhone 14 Plus are mostly identical to those of its little brother, except for the battery which obviously lasts longer. Apple announces the best battery life in its history for iPhones, without giving more precise figures.

Both phones will be equipped with the “Crash Detection” feature which can detect car accidents and automatically notify emergency services. Apple also offers satellite communication, which allows you to contact authorities, even in white areas. The feature will initially be available only in the United States and Canada.
