Apple Music is coming to Google's Nest Audio and Nest mini

If Apple is often criticized, rightly or wrongly, for preferring its own services to the competition, and for slowing down the latter, the Apple brand also knows very well how to export its productions outside its original world. . At least that's what this adaptation of Google's new connected speaker, Nest Audio, demonstrates, which has just added Apple Music to the list of music streaming platforms compatible with the small speaker from the Menlo Park firm.

It was the Google teams themselves who announced the arrival of Apple's music application on their connected speakers. In addition to the Nest Audio, the Nest mini and more broadly, allspeakers compatible with the Google Assistantwill have access to Apple Music. The handling is very simple. Simply link your Apple Music account within the Google Home application, so that the Cupertino company's music platform is available on your connected speaker.

Today, Apple Music is the second largest music streaming app behind Spotify. With nearly 25% of the market share, it was impossible for Google to do without a player as important as Apple Music. Especially since the Menlo Park firm does not offer a real “in-house” solution in terms of music streaming, which reduces Google's reluctance to add Apple's platform.

Apple, the bad student?

In the other direction, the integration of music streaming applications like Spotify on Apple products is more complicated. On the iPhone, the Swedish applicationjust created its proprietary widget on iOS 14, a few weeks after the launch of the function. It must be said that relations between Spotify and Apple are not the most peaceful, the streaming platform more or less directly criticizing Apple's practices on its App Store, and in particular the 30% commission that Apple grants itself for all in-app purchases.

Despite everything, it is false to say that the Cupertino company is not making an effort. Spotify has in fact benefited from its own application for several weekssur Apple Watch, independent of that of his smartphone.
