iPad Pro rendered unusable after update
It was on Reddit that several users expressed themselves,reporting that the update had made their tablets completely inoperable. Onthe r/iPadOS subreddit, a certain tcorey23 shares his despair with us: “I have a 13 inch iPad Pro M4. Today I had two updates to do on my iPad: first I installed iOS 17 without problems, then I wanted to upgrade to iOS 18. At one point, during the update, The iPad turned off and wouldn't turn on again. I was gone during the install, so I don't know exactly when it crashed. I tried all the reset options, but nothing worked. I just took it to the Apple Store, where they confirmed it was completely out of order[…] ».
If some users are not affected, iPads affected by the problem no longer start or remain stuck on the startup screen.The problem only concerns the iPadPro M4and some similar feedback dates back to the beta phase, with the problem seeming to have worsened since the official public release.
Apple looking for a solution
Faced with this situation,Apple responded promptlyby immediately suspending the possibility of updating foriPad Pro M4. The company declared toAppleInsider: «We have temporarily removed the iPadOS 18 update for iPad Pro M4 models while we work to resolve an issue that affects a small number of devices ».
