BBM iOS and Android: queue finished, unexpected success, future developments

After years of
Blackberry carefully kept its instant messaging on its own
machines, a turnaround in fortunes pushed the struggling company to
opening up to competing mobile systems. Then came a
long wait, then alaunch quickly
stopped
, morethis
week, BBM is finally out
.

The application has been successful in terms of downloads which can
appear surprising.

Since then, the queue set up to manage the increase in load has been
absorbed and now BBM is thinking about the future:

The company announced that it had recorded more than10 million
downloads
on iPhone and Android. This is not surprising if we
judged by the position of the app, in first position in many
blinds from all over the world. It's not so bad in an already crowded market, proof
that the application was expected or that it at least aroused
curiosity !

To prevent any further problems during launch, afile
waiting had been put in place
, delivering them let pass for
create and use a BBM Id in a regulated manner. But this is over now,
everyone can use the application as soon as it is installed.

But this is just a step and now Blackberry needs to think about the future.
Namely providing your messaging with new functions, but also thinking about
monetization.

First of all, it was confirmed thatthe messaging would remain
free
and that there would be no "in-app" purchases offering
example of stickers as we can see among competitors confronted with the
same problem of transforming numerous users into sources of
income. But Andrew Brocking, in charge of messaging at Blackberry,
indicated that they had other ideas, evoking the "BBM Channels" already
available on the Canadian brand's terminals and which constitute its
"social" platforms.

In terms of developments, the arrival of the
support for voice and video calls within the app.

To be continued!

To those who have tried or found their BBM messaging: have you planned
to continue its use or was it just a pure download
curiosity ?
