Available since late September, iOS 12 quickly joined and overtook iOS 11 in early October, and this acceleration in iOS 12 adoption continues to hold according to the latest data from Mixpanel.
According to the latest statistics from Mixpanel,iOS 12is now installedon over 75% of compatible iOS devices. A strong sign of user interest in updating their machine, with a more stable and efficient version than iOS 11.
Mixpanel measures OS and cross-web machines hour by hour, where Apple establishes adoption based on machines connecting to the App Store.
For comparison,iOS 11had reached this adoption figure of 75% as of the date ofDecember 17, iOS 12 is thereforeseveral weeks in advanceon the previous version. iOS 11 is considered by many users to be one of the worst versions.
According to the MixPanel graph,19,43 %of the compatible devices is still under iOS 11, and5,5 %of users with a compatible machine preferred to stay in the past with an earlier version of iOS.
With iOS 12, Apple has decided to focus on improving performance and stability on older machines, when usually the opposite happens.
It appears that this decision has borne fruit, since iOS 12 is seeing faster adoption than its predecessor.
According to the latest official figures published by Apple on October 29, iOS 12 was on more than 60% of compatible devices. At the next update of Apple's graph, this figure should logically be above 70%.
The situation will probably not be the same next year with iOS 13, which will instead focus on new features and improvements to existing features.
