iOS 12.1 is available: here are the new features and fixes (+ tvOS 12.1, watchOS 5.1)

Apple announced itlast night via a press release, Tim Cookconfirmed at today's new iPad Pro and Mac conference, it's done !

Apple just deliveredthe new version of iOS. LabelediOS 12 .1, she suggestsseveral new featuresand numerous fixes including that of iMessage confusions and is accompanied by the corresponding versions of the Apple Watch system: watchOS 5.1 and Apple TV with tvOS 12.1.

This version iOS 12.1 is available inwireless installation from settings. It offers a certain number of new features, the most notable being the possibility of usingdouble SIM pour l’iPhone XS et XR, THEgroup FaceTime video calls, or the addition ofover 70 new emoticons.

It also corrects thebug of “too beautiful” selfiesand that of grouped iMessages when an identifier was shared on several machines.

We also note the appearance of aprocessor throttling deactivation functionfor last year's iPhones: X, 8 and 8 Plus.

Here are the most important new features. We talked about it during the beta test phases in thesedifferent items:

• Group FaceTime calls

• Fix for iPhone charging issues

To be able to use the dual SIM function of the 2018 iPhones, beyond the release of iOS 12.1, it will need to be supported by your operator. For the moment, Orange managed an e-SIM on the Apple Watch, we can hope for rapid support for the iPhone Xs and XR. We will return to the subject as soon as the details of the packages and possibilities are available.

The official new features of iOS 12

Here are the release notes shared by Apple:

iOS 12.1 brings Group FaceTime functionality, over 70 new Emoji, and dual SIM support with an eSIM for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR. This update also includes fixes and improvements.

Group FaceTime

• Allows you to make video and audio calls with up to 32 participants at a time.

• Encrypts your conversations end-to-end to ensure their confidentiality.

• Allows you to start a group FaceTime conversation directly from a Messages group conversation, or join an ongoing call at any time.

Emoji

• Over 70 new Emoji, including new characters with red, gray and curly hair, new bald person Emoji, more expressive emoticons, and additional animal, sports and food Emoji.

Dual SIM support

• Supports dual SIM with one eSIM, allowing two numbers to be used on one device for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

Other improvements and fixes

• Adds Depth Control functionality to the camera preview for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

• Improves cellular connectivity for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR.

• Adds the ability to change or reset your child's Screen Time passcode using Face ID or Touch ID.

• Fixes an issue where the sharpest reference image was not always selected for front-facing photos on iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR.

•Fixes an issue that caused messages to be grouped into a single threadwhen two users were signed in with the same Apple ID on multiple iPhones.

• Fixes an issue that prevented some voice messages from appearing in the Phone app.

• Fixes an issue that could cause phone numbers to appear without corresponding contact names in the Phone app.

• Fixes an issue that could prevent Screen Time from taking specific websites into account in the activity report.

• Fixes an issue that could prevent adding or removing members from Family Sharing.

•Adds performance management functionalityto avoid unexpected shutdown of the device, with the possibility of deactivating this functionality in the event of an unexpected shutdown, foriPhone X, l’iPhone 8 et l’iPhone 8 Plus.

• Adds the ability for the “Battery Status” feature to notify the user if they cannot verify that an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR has a genuine Apple battery.

• Improves the reliability of VoiceOver in Camera, Siri and Safari.

• Fixes an issue that could cause some enterprise users to receive an Invalid Profile error when enrolling a device with an MDM solution.
