Result of our survey on the absence of a headphone jack on the iPhone 7: 2,200 opinions shared!

L’iPhone 7 a
buried the headphone jack. This is the first iPhone to no longer offer this
famous analog audio jack widely used both in thegrand
public
, with headsets, earphones, phone kits and more
wired listening solutions, that inthe professional worldwith
headphone amps, hi-fi headphones, etc. Also called mini-Jack socket, its
disappearance of the iPhone, effective since September 2016, was a source of
rumor from the beginning of 2016. Among great defenders of its importance and others
supporters of wireless, the debates were heated.

After almost 6 months of iPhone 7, we wanted to know if
actually, the absence of this socket on the iPhone is anotable lack
or not
. This was the purpose of our survey, with the question
next question: "Are you missing the headphone jack on the iPhone 7?". Let's see
the results after 2200 votes!

A “courageous” decision

It is indeed interesting to take the temperature regarding the absence
of this headphone jack, since, on the one hand, it will not return to the
Subsequent iPhones, on the other hand, Apple imposed this not following a request
from the public, this would have been surprising, but justified its choice by emphasizing
the much better quality of the Lightning jack for audio.

Reports,résumés

, in fact established that the main cause of the suppression of the
taken would bespace left free inside the case
for other components gaining importance, photo sensor, battery,
Capacitive Home button, etc.

Still, the only way to use a classic wired headset
with the iPhone 7 isto use the Lightning-Jack adapter
supplied in the box, or headphones with Lightning jack directly
(also provided). But in the future, it is more towards wireless
will have to turn, as Apple AirPods show with the new chip

But despite Apple's efforts to offer ways to facilitate
the adaptation of its users, do you suffer from this lack? Here are the
numbers.

Far from being unanimous

The survey offered the following 4 answers: “not at all”, “at
beginning, but we're getting used to it", "yes, regularly" or "it's unbearable". More than
2200 voters made their voices heard. Here is the distribution of
answers:

  • Not at all: 40%
  • Yes regularly: 23%
  • At first, but you get used to it: 21%
  • It's unbearable: 17%

To simplify, for 6 out of 10 iPhone owners, the absence of
Jack socket does not interfere or no longer
. You are thus almost 60% yours
get by without the lack being felt.

The other 40 percent feel this absence, with even 17% of voters
who have great difficulty doing without.

We therefore have positive numerical results for the absence of a Jack socket,
but far from being unanimous.Four out of ten iPhone 7 owners
regret the headphone jack in practice
.

Your opinions on removing the headphone jack

We notice that among the comments, we find much more
users who have been able to adapt to the absence of Jack than others who
regret. Moreover, many people seem to have equipped themselves with
Bluetooth headsets, while few use the Lightning jack for connection
a listening solution, except for hi-fi and amplifier use
specific.

Wireless therefore seems to be the priority for iPhone 7 owners,
a few were even equipped with Bluetooth headphones before the release of the
Apple smartphone, so they got into the habit of no longer using the socket
analog now disappeared.

In the only situations where the thread is still essential, for example
in the car with certain car radios for example, the adapter provided
by Apple seems to do the job perfectly
according to the
testimonies.

Obviously, if there is only one regret, it will be to choose between
the inability to charge your iPhone with the Lightning headset plugged in
at the same time, a rather rare situation apparently, and the non-universality of
Lightning, for example, the impossibility of connecting Lightning EarPods
on MacBook, even recent ones, without adapter.

The criticisms in the comments are therefore not particularly aimed at the absence
real of this headphone jack, but rather the solutions proposed by Apple
to compensate for the lack. This is indicative of one thing, according to the survey,
it's thatthis socket is obviously not so essential for
users
than we might have thought a few months earlier. With a
little effort to adapt and perhaps a little more time, the transition
will continue to be done without too much pain for a majority of
users. You'll have to get used to it!

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond!
